In a red brick house on the 4900 block of Walnut Street in Philadelphia, Paul Robeson came to live out his final years, a haven for a man who had used his voice in song and speeches to advocate for the rights of oppressed people. It is now the Paul Robeson House & Museum, and it belongs to the community just as much as Robeson belonged to the world. It is a place where high school students exhibit their artwork and do internships, the Paul Robeson Chess Club practices for tournaments, and neighbors gather for porch festivals and Peoplehood marches to a nearby park as a sign of solidarity and spirit. It is also a place where conversations are held on current issues. We are seeking your help to pay off our mortgage and make repairs to the house.

A hub for literary Philly, Blue Stoop's mission is to support and nurture writers and readers from all walks of life who live in greater Philadelphia. We believe storytelling makes us smarter, more empathetic, and more connected. Our programs prioritize lifting the voices of writers of color, queer and trans writers, and working class writers. We offer writing classes for serious early career writers as well as author events open to the public at venues around the city. Our classes are priced to appropriately compensate our amazing teachers and staff who are diverse writers themselves.
